Xiongxian County is affiliated to Baoding City, Hebei Province, and is hosted by Xiongan New District. The Jizhong Plain is located in the hinterland of the Beijing-Tianjin-Baoding Triangle. Xiong County was called "Waqiao Pass" in ancient times and was one of the "Three Passes" guarded by Yang Liulang, a famous general in the Song Dynasty. In the sixth year of Xiande of the Later Zhou Dynasty (959), Emperor Shizong personally conquered the Liao Dynasty, regained Waqiao Pass and established Xiongzhou, from which the name "Xiong" originated. Xiong County is located in the central part of Hebei Province. The county is 108 kilometers away from Beijing in the north, 175 kilometers away from Shijiazhuang in the southwest, 100 kilometers away from Tianjin in the east, and 70 kilometers away from Baoding in the west. The county borders Bazhou City in the east, Renqiu City and Wen'an County in the south and southeast, faces Anxin County across Baiyangdian in the southwest, Rongcheng County in the west, and Baigou New City and Gaobei County in the northwest and north. It is adjacent to Dian City and borders Gu'an County in the northeast.

It is between 38°54′59″~39°10′36″ north latitude, 116°01′03″~116°20′08″ east longitude, and is 26 kilometers long from east to west. It is 25.5 kilometers wide from north to south, and the county covers an area of ??677.55 square kilometers.
