At the age of nine, he can wrestle or hug an ox. Seeing that there was no peace in Longtan every year, Geda vowed to subdue the evil dragon and eliminate harm for the people.

One day, Liao went out to herd cattle and saw three people, one was a tiger hunter, one was a bird hunter, and the other was a fisherman. Liao went up to the tiger catcher and asked for advice on how to subdue the evil dragon. The tiger catcher said: "To catch a tiger, use a trap. The dragon will not walk on the ground. You go ask the fishermen." The fisherman is an old man with a white beard. He is busy making bamboo buns (fish frying utensils) and ignores the knots.

In the last years of the Qing Dynasty, the government was corrupt, and buying and selling officials became a common practice. At that time, the price of buying a scholar's name was eight hundred taels of silver.
