Definition of ship broker

The business of a ship broker includes transmitting information, assisting or acting as an agent to sign shipbuilding contracts, ship purchase contracts and various forms of charter contracts. However, the legal status of ship brokers is not very clear. Generally speaking, under normal circumstances, a ship broker only transmits shipping information and accepts the entrustment according to a special agency agreement before acting as the agent of the principal to engage in agency business related to ship trading, such as signing contracts on his behalf.
