What is the job like as a French translator?

It is more difficult to get started as a translator than as an interpreter. The main reason is that the minimum requirement is 5 years of professional translation experience. It is difficult to enter this industry without a backdoor.

It is best to take the CATII Advanced French exam. This is highly recognized, but it may not be of much help to newly graduated undergraduates.

Transcribed translation is much more difficult than oral translation. It requires a wide range of knowledge. You must be familiar with physics, chemistry, biology and other science knowledge before you can translate it well. Otherwise, you can’t even understand Chinese. How else can you translate it? In French, right? The requirements for language foundation are much higher than those for interpreting.
