Zhongshan City is one of the four prefecture-level cities without districts in China. Formerly known as Xiangshan County, it was founded in1152; 1925 renamed Zhongshan county in memory of Sun Yat-sen, located in the lower reaches of Xijiang River and Beijiang River in the south-central Pearl River Delta.
