Yesterday, Han Jizhi, investment director of Beijing Wanchang Investment Co., Ltd., revealed to reporters that Wal-Mart Stores Co., Ltd. of the United States has selected Shijiazhuang Shopping Center invested and developed by the company as its store location in Shijiazhuang.

According to reports, as early as February 24 this year, Mr. Zhong, the global senior vice president, president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores Co., Ltd. of the United States, and his five people went to the provincial capital to inspect the site selection, and soon after that, they finalized the goal on the Yuanyang City project.

Han Jizhi revealed, "At present, written intentions have been reached on key issues such as engineering conditions, architectural planning, development area and storey height. In the future, agreements on finance, environmental protection, fire protection, manpower and logistics support will be signed one after another, and more than a dozen agreements will be signed after the whole project is completed." Han Jizhi said that at present, Wal-Mart China has sent these agreements to the US headquarters and will sign them one after another in the near future.

Shijiazhuang Yuanyang City is located in the prime location of Zhongshan Road, the provincial capital, with a design area of 20,000 square meters. It is a directional development form designed and built by developers according to the requirements of Wal-Mart. The whole Ocean City project will be completed around the end of next year, and the opening time of Wal-Mart is expected to be around May 2007, which will be Wal-Mart's first store in Shijiazhuang.
