In the fourth year of Xianping in the Northern Song Dynasty (100 1), Xia Chuan Road, located in the present Sichuan Basin, was divided into Yizhou Road, Zizhou Road, Lizhou Road and Kuizhou Road, collectively referred to as "Xia Chuan No.4 Road" or "Sichuan Road". In the meantime, there were also official posts such as Sichuan Zhi Zhi Ambassador and Sichuan Fu Xuan Ambassador, which were later called "Sichuan", hence the name Sichuan.

Sichuan Province is located in the southwest hinterland of China, with an east longitude of 97 21'~108 33' and a north latitude of 26 03' ~ 3419'.
