Huangpu District Introduction:

Huangpu District (3 10 10 1) covers an area of 20 square kilometers and has a population of 660,000. Named after Huangpu River. Originally Gaochang Township, Shanghai County, 1843 was transformed into the British-French Concession, 1944 was the first district, and 1945 was the Huangpu District. Huangpu District is rich in groundwater resources. In addition to shallow groundwater, the Quaternary loose sediments with a thickness of nearly 300 meters contain five confined aquifers, of which the fourth confined aquifer has the richest water storage and the best water quality. All the water in the aquifer is stored in the pores of the rock sand.

Huangpu District is the earliest area in the city to exploit deep groundwater. As early as the tenth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty (1860), Changyang Institute of Shangmei Banner, Dongyi Road, Zhongshan, dug the first deep well in the city.
