What dialects are there in Shanghai?

Generally speaking, the dialects in Shanghai belong to Su-Hu-Jia dialect of Wu dialect in Taihu Lake, but they can be further divided into several types according to internal differences.

1。 Chongming dialect area

The area is distributed in northern islands such as Chongming, Changxing and Hengsha.

2。 Jiading dialect area

This area is located in Jiading and Baoshan in the northern part of the mainland.

3。 Li Antang dialect area

This area is located in the southwest of Qingpu.

4。 Shanghai dialect area

Distributed in Shanghai and its vicinity, Pudong and Nanhui.

5。 Songjiang dialect area

It is distributed in Songjiang, Jinshan, Fengxian, Minhang, Qingpu and parts of Jiading.
