Historical Evolution of Northeastern University Library

Northeastern University Library was first built in 1923. Located in the old campus of Northeastern University south of Beiling Park. Invested by General Zhang Xueliang, it has become the location of Liaoning Provincial Archives. At present, the library of Nanhu Campus of Northeastern University was built in 1985 and put into use that year.

1928 In July, Liu Shangqing, a former governor of Fengtian, resigned as the president of Northeastern University, and the Northeast Security Committee appointed General Zhang Xueliang as the president. General Zhang Xueliang learned a truth from the hatred of Huanggutun incident: a country's prosperity depends mainly on cultivating talents, and education is the foundation. After General Zhang Xueliang became president, he devoted a lot of efforts to the development of Northeastern University and donated money to expand the campus. In memory of President Zhang, the school named the two teaching buildings of the Law School Hanqing South Building and Hanqing North Building respectively. Donated 300,000 yuan to build a modern Roman stadium that can accommodate 30,000 people. It was the first modern stadium in China at that time and is now the stadium of Shenyang Institute of Physical Education. Another 500 thousand yuan was donated to build a library, a chemistry museum and an experimental museum, of which the library is now the Liaoning Provincial Archives.

This library was designed by Mr. Yang Tingbao, a famous architect in China. The library has a building area of 6,400 square meters and the shape is an airplane. The building is three stories high. The first floor is the stacks, the second floor is the borrowing room and office, and the third floor is the reading room. The hall is spacious and bright, which is very convenient for readers to read. This Chinese-Western library building is also one of the masterpieces in the architectural history of China. At that time, the library of Northeastern University had hundreds of thousands of books. Books include philosophy, religion, education, linguistics, natural science, applied science, art, literature, history and geography, as well as a large number of newspapers and magazines, so that students can learn a wealth of knowledge from books and newspapers. The library reading room has the rule of 1 1, which stipulates that "the reading time is from 8 am to 8 pm every day except holidays." "The school opening hours are 9: 00 am-12am on legal holidays". It can be seen from this regulation that the school not only has a well-equipped library, but also facilitates students to borrow books in terms of system and time arrangement. In April of the following year, the Ministry of Industry of the People's Government of Northeast China decided to build Northeast Polytechnic University, including Shenyang Institute of Technology, Fushun Institute of Mining and Anshan Institute of Technology. In August, the Northeast People's Government issued an order to merge the above three schools into Northeast Institute of Technology, located in Muhu, the eldest daughter, now Nanhu, Shenyang, with Jin, a famous metallurgical expert, as the dean. In September, 1950, Northeast Institute of Technology held its inaugural meeting and the first opening ceremony. There were 2936 students and 4 17 teachers. 1985, the new library of Northeast Institute of Technology was put into use, and now it is the library of Nanhu Headquarters of Northeastern University.

In September 2003, when Northeastern University celebrated its eightieth anniversary, the school officially named the library of Northeastern University Ning Encheng Library, which was renovated with the love of six sisters.
