The big secret of button material

Button materials are roughly divided into plastic (resin, plastic), metal button (copper, iron, alloy) and natural (shell, wood, coconut shell, bamboo. The process of making buttons from various materials is different.

Plastic and resin buckles

Plastic buttons (including all kinds of plastics) are generally die-cast, so there will be a line on the edge of the button. Some factories may have removed this line in the subsequent processing, but its weight is lighter than resin (some plastics will be heavier). Resin keys are mechanically carved and polished, so the surface is not full of mold lines and is very smooth. But it is fragile, the surface is easy to scratch, and it will soften when put in boiling water.

Buttons made of copper and iron

Just try it with a magnet. Scrape off the electroplated layer on the surface with a hard object, and the brass color (gold) on the surface of the copper buckle. The iron buckle is black, which is the color of raw materials.

Alloy buckle

Alloy buttons are heavy and die-cast. All mold lines are usually polished and polished, which may not be visible, but they are heavy and solid.
