4. Viscosity of petroleum. Petroleum containing more light fractions and less resin has lower viscosity. The viscosity of petroleum containing more heavy components is relatively high. When transporting oil by oil pipeline, viscosity should be considered. Some petroleum products have certain requirements on viscosity, for example, lubricating oil needs a certain viscosity, while lamp oil needs a relatively small viscosity.

The flash point of oil is the temperature at which the steam generated by oil heating mixes with the surrounding air and shows the flash point when it approaches the ignition point. The more low-boiling components in petroleum, the lower the flash point of petroleum, but the flash point of lubricating oil should not be too low.
