Liyuan Town is located in the south of Yizhang County, formerly known as Li Yuanbao, and is one of the famous "three castles" in the county. Now it is the south gate of Hunan Province, with a total area of 7 1 000 square kilometers, and 20 village (neighborhood) committees with a total population of 36,000.

Liyuan is an open and blessed land with convenient transportation. It borders Shiping Town, Meihua Town, Xiushui Town and sanxi town in Lechang City, Guangdong Province in the east, south and north, and is adjacent to Guanxi Township and Yanquan Town in the west. As the origin of the uprisings in southern Hunan, the sons and daughters of Li Yuan shed their heads and shed their blood, and went on wave after wave, emerging revolutionary predecessors such as Chen Dongri, Chen Guang, Jun Chen, Chen Ce, Chen Zhangzhong and Chen Mao, leaving behind the glorious footprints of proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation such as Zhu De, Chen Yi and Deng Xiaoping. There are still ruins of Ming Dynasty castles in the territory, including Fuyuan Village Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, the former site of Agricultural College of Sun Yat-sen University, Chen Guang's former residence and other red cultural landscapes, as well as religious tourism landscapes such as Donghua Xian and Baogong Temple. Liyuan is rich in hot spring resources, and relevant work is being carried out in the early stage of the construction of hot spring new village in Gan Tang Bay.

Liyuan has a strong agricultural development and is a "granary" area. In recent years, our town has continuously optimized its layout, highlighted its characteristics, adjusted its structure, and vigorously developed the green agricultural industry. Promote the transfer of more than 2,000 mu of land to develop flue-cured tobacco planting, and agricultural production has a new head; Efforts have been made to cultivate the special cultivation of red globe, Gong Ju, crystal pear, navel orange and lily, which has accelerated the process of agricultural industrialization. As a pilot town for comprehensive reform of small towns in Hunan Province, Liyuan has been developing continuously in recent years. There are fireworks and firecrackers enterprises 12, coal mines 1, four quarries, cement factories 1, toy factories 1, raincoat factories 1, and three hydropower stations with an annual production capacity of 90,000 tons.
