Take the use of Landsat data as an example to briefly explain.

NDBI=(TM5-TM4)/(TM5+TM4), where TM4 and TM5 are the 4th and 5th band reflectances of Landsat data, respectively.

This calculation can be realized by remote sensing image processing software such as Erdas or ENVI. If you use ENVI, you can use the BandMath function under the basic tools. If Erdas is used, please use Modeler modeling function. After calculating NDBI, set the threshold, make a mask and extract the information of construction land.
