Shanghai University of Engineering Science is a local institution of higher learning that focuses on engineering technology, economic management, art design and other disciplines, and focuses on undergraduate education, with the coordinated development of postgraduate education, higher vocational education and continuing education.

The major of rail transit in University of Engineering Science ranks first in China, and even Shanghai Jiaotong University will co-organize a major with it. Air Transport College is a joint school with Shanghai Airlines, and the major of chemical engineering and technology (fine chemical industry) also has certain strength, as well as the School of Automobile Engineering.

These advantages of the University of Engineering Science are better than those of Ocean University: aquatic products, agriculture and forestry, and economic employment.

In addition, the new campus of our University of Engineering Science is located in Songjiang University Town, and its hardware facilities are not worse than those of Ocean University. Moreover, there are seven universities around Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, Shanghai Lixin Accounting Institute, Donghua University, East China University of Political Science and Law and Fudan University, and the facilities are perfect, which is not comparable to Ocean University at all.
