Gongyi city is located in the middle of Henan Province, People's Republic of China (PRC). North latitude 34 31'-34 52', east longitude112 49'-11317'. Total area 104 1 km2. Total population is 790,000 (2002).

Gongyi city is located in the central part of Henan Province, at the northern foot of the location of Gongyi in Zhongyue Mountain, Henan Province, with the latitude of 34 "3 1' 34" 52' and the longitude of12 "49'-113"1. Total area 104 1 km2, including 500,000 mu of cultivated land. The main rivers in the territory are the Yellow River, Luo Yi River and Mihe River, and the mountains are Songshan Mountain, Mangshan Mountain and Fuxi Mountain, with a population of 790,000. There are Han, Hui, Uygur, Yi, Miao and Bai nationalities. Gongyi Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government are located in the administrative center of Gongyi East District (Longhai East Road), which governs 15 towns, 5 sub-district offices and 292 administrative villages.

Historically, Gongyi belonged to Luoyang 1000 years, which is an important part of Heluo Cultural District. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Gongyi was affiliated to Zhengzhou organization, and in June, 1955+0 was changed to Kaifeng organization, and in August, 1983 was reverted to Zhengzhou city. In June,19/kloc-0 was approved by the State Council to set up a city (county-level city), and it still belongs to Zhengzhou city.

Gongyi has obvious geographical advantages. It is 82km from Zhengzhou in the east, 76km from Luoyang in the west, Xingyang in the east, Yanshi in the west, Dengfeng and Mixian in the south, and Mengxian and Wenxian across the Yellow River in the north. Longhai Railway, National Highway 3 10, Lianhuo Expressway run through the east and west, Henan Line 3 1 and Jiaogong Yellow River Bridge run through the north and south. The total mileage of the city is 1347 km, and there are 6 special railway lines connected with the national railway. The total telephone installed capacity reached 177574, and all towns and villages realized automatic program-controlled telephones. In the whole province, counties (cities) took the lead in opening ten thousand program-controlled and mobile communication projects, taking the lead in realizing optical fiber digital communication, and successfully completing the grid connection with Zhengzhou, the provincial capital. Since 1992, the comprehensive economic strength has been ranked first in Henan Province for 16 years, and ranked 45th among the top 100 counties (cities) in China for 9 years. The basic competitiveness of county economy ranks 39th in China and 1 in the central and western regions.
