What is the historical evolution of Shangzhi Street in Harbin?

Shangzhi Street: Eternal Human Spirit

Shangzhi Street, formerly known as Xincheng Street, was formed at 1900, with a total length of 1.7 km. There used to be some underground party organizations in China in this street, such as Northeast Morning Post 1925, which was first founded by our party in August, at the intersection of Shangzhi Street and West 14th Street.

Zhao Shangzhi, formerly known as Zhao, 1908/kloc-0 was born in Chaoyang county, Liaoning province on October 25th.19/kloc-0 moved to Harbin with his family on June 25th, 925, and went to Guangzhou Huangpu Military Academy to study, and returned to Harbin the following year. After the "September 18th Incident", Zhao Shangzhi served as secretary of the Military Commission of the Manchurian Provincial Party Committee and head of the Anti-Japanese Association. 1May, 932, he was sent to the anti-Japanese guerrilla zone, and successively served as the chief of staff of Bayan guerrilla, the commander of the third army of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army and the commander-in-chief of the Northeast People's Anti-Japanese Coalition.

Zhao Shangzhi has many connections with Xincheng Street (now Shangzhi Street). 1933, Zhao Shangzhi came back from Bayan. When he went to the dime hotel (the corner of Shangzhi Street and Xisidao Street is the underground organization of our party) to see Jin Boyang, he was discovered and arrested by Japanese agents. He was tortured, but he insisted that he was a beggar, and the enemy was helpless. Later, I had to let him go.

At the beginning of February, 1942, Zhao Shangzhi believed the false information that Wu Tonghe's police force was empty provided by "Zhang Yuqing". Late at night on February 12, Zhao Shangzhi was ambushed when he led his troops into Wutonghe River. After fierce fighting, Zhao Shangzhi swallowed his anger and died the next morning at the age of 34. It is reported that Zhao Shangzhi's head was cut off and sent to Changchun, and his body sank into the Songhua River.

Because the Japanese plane landed to refuel on the way to Changchun, when the plane landed at the Dafangshen Airport in Changchun, Dong Chengxiang, the former director of Xingshan Police Secret Service, found that Zhao Shangzhi's frozen head had begun to thaw. Zhao's eyes glowed after his sacrifice. His eyes still glared after his head was cut off. However, after flying to Changchun, my eyes have been closed. After being sent to the military and political departments of Manchukuo, due to the high indoor temperature, Zhao Shangzhi's head, which had not been preserved, had oozed blood.

Three days later, when Yu, the military and political minister of the Puppet Manchukuo, and a group of Japanese officers personally examined Zhao Shangzhi's head, it smelled bad and could not be preserved. After consulting with the headquarters of Kwantung Army, it was decided to burn Zhao's head.

Just as it was about to burn, a monk arrived in time. He was presided over by prajna temple in Changchun, and he was highly respected in the Puppet Manchukuo New Beijing. Because the commander-in-chief of the Japanese Kwantung Army at that time believed in Buddhism, he visited the monks in prajna temple many times. So, when he heard that the head of Zhao Shangzhi, who died in the Anti-Japanese War, was going to be burned, he personally asked that Zhao Shangzhi's head be buried in prajna temple. The Supreme Commander of the Kwantung Army made an exception and agreed to his request.

Was the head of Zhao Shangzhi martyr buried immediately after it was transported to prajna temple, or was it buried by this monk who sympathized with the anti-Japanese people? No one knows what happened afterwards.

On July 7th, 1946, 200,000 people from all walks of life in Songjiang Province and Harbin City commemorated the 9th anniversary of the July 7th Anti-Japanese War and celebrated the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. At the meeting, Feng Zhongyun, Chairman of Songjiang Province, suggested that Xincheng Street be renamed Shangzhi Street to commemorate the national hero Zhao Shangzhi.

However, the head of the hero is always a mystery.

On May 3rd, 2004, KLOC-0, Jiang Baocai, who was organizing the filming of the large-scale documentary Northeast Anti-Union, overheard a news that an unnamed skull was found in prajna temple, Changchun. "Could this be Zhao Shangzhi's head?" Jiang Baocai heart movement. I immediately rushed to prajna temple with my friends to investigate.

On June 18, Jiang Baocai and others invited many experts to scientifically identify the skull. The appraisal results are basically consistent with historical records. At the same time, according to the analysis of skull modeling, the image restored by computer has also been recognized by Zhao Shangzhi's sister Zhao, Zhao Shangzhi's old subordinate (former governor of Heilongjiang Province) and his wife (former vice chairman of Heilongjiang Province). The head of the anti-Japanese hero who has been missing for 62 years has finally been found.
