The origin of place names in Guangxi:

Spring and Autumn Period During the Warring States Period, Lingnan was part of Baiyue, and Guangxi was part of Baiyue. In 214 BC, the Qin Dynasty conquered Baiyue and established Guilin County, Nanhai County and Xiang County in Lingnan. Most of today's Guangxi belongs to Guilin County and Xiang County, so Guangxi's name "Gui" comes from this.

The name of Guangxi comes from two sources. One is the third year of Xiantong (862). Lingnan Road was divided into east and west roads. It became a first-level independent administrative region; another administrative unit established in the Song Dynasty was "Guangnan West Road", later referred to as "Guangxi Road".

The second reason is that it is named after the ancient place name "Guangxin". Guangxin is the dividing line between Guangxi and Guangxi. The east of Guangxin is called Guangdong, and the west of Guangxin is called Guangxi. This is the origin of the name "Guangxi". In 1363, Guangxi Xingzhongshu Province was established, which was the beginning of the establishment of Guangxi Province.
