On the afternoon of March 2, a work matchmaking meeting for the Jiangbei New Area Innovation Research Institute of Southeast University was held at Sipailou Campus. Luo Qun, member of the Standing Committee of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee and full-time deputy secretary of the Jiangbei New District Party Working Committee, Chen Junmei, deputy director of the Jiangbei New District Management Committee, Cai Long, chairman of Nanjing Yangzi State Investment Group, and heads of relevant functional departments of Jiangbei New District attended the meeting. Southeast University President Zhang Guangjun, Vice President Wu Gang and heads of relevant functional departments, departments and scientific research platforms of the school participated in the docking discussion. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Wu Gang.

At the meeting, President Zhang Guangjun first expressed his welcome and gratitude to Member of the Standing Committee Luo Qun and his delegation for visiting Southeast University to carry out work docking, and proposed that this meeting should be used to summarize the preliminary construction of the Innovation Institute, docking communication and cooperation projects, and interviews. The direction of cooperation for win-win development in the future. Member of the Standing Committee Luo Qun expressed his willingness to promote the implementation of projects, find new ways of cooperation, and achieve new fruits of cooperation.

Afterwards, Vice President Wu Gang introduced the progress of the construction of the Innovation Research Institute. Professor Ran Bin, Director of the Southeast University-University of Wisconsin Intelligent Connected Transportation Joint Research Institute, highlighted the idea of ??cooperating to build Nanjing's "Silicon Valley" for autonomous driving and hoped to receive support from all aspects of Jiangbei New Area. Gu Zhongze, Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and Medical Engineering, and Xie Wei, Dean of the Institute of Life Sciences, respectively reported on the construction plan of the "Purple Mountain Laboratory of Life and Health" and the construction plan of the "Comprehensive Science Center of Life and Health".

After listening to the report, President Zhang Guangjun put forward three requirements and hopes for promoting the construction of the Innovation Institute and deepening district-school cooperation. First, speed up the construction process of the Innovation Institute, complete the registration of the Institute as soon as possible, and improve the organization structure and operating mechanism, hoping to support the implementation of industry-university-research projects in the institute and drive the aggregation of innovative elements and the upgrading of high-tech industries in Jiangbei New Area; second, highlight the key tasks and projects of the first phase of the innovation institute, especially targeting the frontier of vehicle-road collaboration direction, in line with the major deployment of the "Transportation Power" strategy, and hopes to strongly support and implement the project and construction of the national "Vehicle-Road Integrated Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone" as soon as possible; third, continue to strengthen the project establishment and construction of major national science and technology infrastructure for biomedical big data , and hopes to further pool resources and focus on promotion in accordance with the goals of the national laboratory, so as to drive the cluster development of the life and health industry.

In his speech, Standing Committee Member Luo Qun fully affirmed the cooperation project and President Zhang’s speech, and expressed that he would vigorously deepen and actively implement it. He requested relevant departments in Jiangbei New Area to connect as soon as possible and strongly support the implementation of vehicle-road collaboration projects. He also suggested that Jiangbei’s 5G layout be combined with other projects such as autonomous driving to expand and deepen vehicle-road collaboration project cooperation. He also hopes to join forces with Dongda University to build a national-level integrated circuit innovation center and a life and health innovation center in Jiangbei New District to further drive the agglomeration of related industries.
