Adhering to the principle of "based in China, facing the world", Su Shimin's scholar plan selects undergraduate graduates from the world's top universities who have studied in Tsinghua for one year with excellent academic performance, honesty and integrity, broad vision, a sense of responsibility and mission, and leadership potential, and cultivates future leaders with broad international vision, excellent comprehensive quality and excellent leadership ability, understanding China society and China culture, and being interested in contributing wisdom to promoting world peace and development. The project adopts innovative teaching concepts and methods, providing students with a unique opportunity to know the world and explore China in an all-round way. The curriculum system is designed with the world and changing China as the main line, highlighting the global vision and China vision. Through the in-depth investigation of China society, we can understand the changes in China under the background of globalization, and discuss the problems and practical challenges of world development. The project focuses on courses and training that integrate knowledge, ability, thinking and character, adopts a flat and experiential learning model, and sets professional directions such as economic management, international relations and public management. At the same time, scholars in Su Shimin plan to select the best teachers in the world, absorb advanced international educational ideas, promote the reform and direction adjustment of school education, teaching and personnel training, and strive to play a leading role in updating ideas and deepening the reform of higher education in China. The project leader is Li Daokui, professor of Tsinghua University Institute of Economics and Management and director of China and World Economic Research Center. The Advisory Committee invited former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and other outstanding people from all walks of life to make suggestions for the development of the project. The academic committee consists of Sir Colin Lucas, former president of Oxford University, William Kirby, director of Fairbank China Research Center of Harvard University, professor of Harvard Business School, Warren MacFarlane, honorary professor of Harvard Business School, and Jane Edwards, vice president of Yale College of Yale University. The teaching building of Su Shimin Scholars Project was designed by Professor Robert A.M. Stern, Dean of Yale University School of Architecture and one of the founders of post-modern architectural style. Construction started at the end of 20 13, and it is planned to be completed in the first half of 20 15. By then, the selection of students in the first phase of the project will also be completed. The students in the first phase adopt the mode of district enrollment, and the mode of "prestigious school+celebrity recommendation" is adopted in the early stage. The initial enrollment was 100, and it was gradually expanded to 200, of which 20% came from Chinese mainland, 45% from the United States and 35% from other countries or regions in the world. At the same time, 10 internationally renowned scholars or top industry experts who are openly recruited for Su Shimin's scholar program will also be put in place one after another. They will offer project courses, serve as student tutors, communicate with students regularly, and organize and lead students to conduct field surveys. Finally, the Su Shimin Scholar Project will build a broad and excellent global alumni platform, mentor network and lifelong learning community through the experience of students from many countries, and provide lifelong social networks for project members.
