Is Jinan Shanda Second Hospital a public hospital?

The Second Hospital of Shandong University is a large comprehensive hospital which is managed by the Ministry of Health and integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention and health care. It is the National Physician Qualification Examination Base, the Health Professional and Technical Qualification Examination Test Development Base of the Ministry of Health, the National Clinical Pharmacology Institution, the Surgical Basic Skills Training Base of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the designated hospitals for medical insurance referral in Shandong Province, the designated hospitals for medical insurance, industrial injury insurance, maternity insurance and unemployment insurance in Jinan City, and the designated medical units for cadre health care in Shandong Province. Formerly known as the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong Medical University, in July 2000, the former Shandong University, Shandong Medical University and Shandong Polytechnic University merged to form the new Shandong University, which was renamed the Second Hospital of Shandong University.
