The origin of Zhangzhou's noble children

The origin of Zhangzhou's name is named after water. The water here is Zhangjiang in Yunxiao County. The origin of Zhangjiang's name is related to some allusions of Zheng Chen family. Zhangjiang River, formerly known as Xiao Yun River, was renamed Sui Anxi in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the second year of the Tang Dynasty (AD 669), Zheng Chen, the father of Chen Yuanguang, the holy king of Zhang Kai, entered the city and saw two streams in the south and north, which were clear in the south and turbid in the north. He recalled that when he was young, he "followed the good family", and together with his father Ke Geng, he pointed to the river and said to the soldiers, "This water is as clear as Shangdang Zhanghe", so he renamed this river as Zhangjiang. This is the saying in Xiao Yun Tang Lu. However, it is said in the Biography of Zhangzhou Prefecture Zheng Chen that Zheng Chen stationed troops in the clouds and crossed Suianxi. His mother, Mrs. Wei, drank clear water and said affectionately, "This water is as clear as the party's." Therefore, this river is called "Zhangjiang". Of course, it is difficult to verify which statement is closer to historical facts, but it is basically certain that Zhangzhou is named after Zhangjiang. In addition, Zhangpu's name is also related to Zhangjiang. "Pu" means the place where the water edge or river flows into the sea. At that time, the Zhangjiang River Basin was within the jurisdiction of Zhangpu, so Zhangpu was called "Zhangpu" when it was built. According to the Records of Zhangzhou City, in the second year of the Tang Dynasty (AD 686), Chen Yuanguang wrote to the court and requested the establishment of Zhangzhou. The court granted the southern part of Longxi County to be included in the jurisdiction of Quanzhou (now Fuzhou) and Zhangzhou was built under the name of Zhangshui. After the establishment of Zhangzhou, the long-term turbulent land at the turn of Fujian and Guangdong in the southeast coast turned a new page, laying the foundation for the subsequent prosperity and development.
