400,000 Audi cars spontaneously ignited? It has been recalled at present!

Audi's vehicles have hidden dangers.

Last month, the General Administration of Customs of China issued an announcement informing of two incidents of spontaneous combustion of imported Audi cars in port containers. Audi confirmed that the auto-ignition of the vehicle was caused by the internal short circuit of the starting motor. Recently, the official website of the State Administration of Market Supervision announced the recall of several brands of cars, among which FAW-Volkswagen Co., Ltd. recalled nearly 400,000 imported and domestic Audi cars. What are the hidden dangers of these recalled cars? Let's have a look.

Replace the new safety starting motor.

The two Audi cars that spontaneously ignited in the port container before were discovered by customs officers during the inspection, both of which were Audi A5 2.0T models. Faced with this situation, Audi said that the cause of vehicle spontaneous combustion is due to manufacturing and assembly process problems, and there is a risk of internal short circuit in the conductive bracket of starting motor. Audi also provided a list of imported Audi brand vehicles equipped with the same starting motor, including Audi A42.0T, A5 2.0T, A6 2.0T and A72.0t, some of which have entered the domestic market. Recently, FAW-Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Markets and decided to recall some imported and domestic Audi cars in batches, totaling 39 1874 vehicles. Among them, 1868 vehicles are some imported Audi A4Avant 2.0T and A5 2.0T vehicles produced from September 20 19 to June 20 19. And the domestic Audi A4L 2.0T, A6L 2.0T and Q5L 2.0T produced from August 17 to March 24, 2020. In this regard, the General Administration of Customs strictly checks the relevant models imported by customs one by one to ensure that all imported cars are replaced with the latest safe starting motors, and Audi will replace the vehicles entering the domestic market for free.

Quick end scheme

According to the official announcement, due to the manufacturer's reasons, there may be tiny oil injection holes in the inverters of some starting generators in the recalled vehicles. When moisture accumulates in the holes, it may lead to electrolytic short circuit of electronic components in the inverter, which may lead to local heat accumulation in the starter generator. In extreme cases, the possibility of vehicle fire is not ruled out, and there are potential safety hazards. "In order to solve possible safety hazards, we will replace the starter generator for vehicles within the recall range free of charge." Huo Rui, the after-sales person in charge of FAW Audi Zunyi Chiao 4S store, said that the starter generators used by manufacturers in this recall will use original Audi remanufactured parts to ensure the timely supply of accessories. These remanufactured parts are sealed with permanent waterproof paint to start the conductive bracket of generator inverter, which avoids the internal short circuit caused by water vapor entering the conductive bracket.
