Jiangcheng District is located in the south of Yangjiang City. It is one of the municipal districts of Yangjiang City, the seat of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, and the political, economic, cultural, transportation and information center of Yangjiang City. It borders Yangxi County to the west, Yangdong District to the east, Yangchun City to the north, faces the South China Sea to the south, is located in a coastal low-mountain hilly area, and is surrounded by mountains, rivers and the sea. It has a south subtropical oceanic climate, with an average annual temperature of 22.5°C, an average annual precipitation of 2,300 mm, and basically no frost throughout the year. Jiangcheng was the jurisdiction of Gaoliang County in ancient times. Since Wu Sunquan established Gaoliang County in the first year of Wei Huangchu (AD 220) (except for the 58th year of Liu Song in the Southern Dynasty), it has been a county, state, and County seat. In the second year of Daye of the Sui Dynasty (AD 606), Yangjiang County was established and the old earth city was renovated. The renovated new brick and wooden city faced the Moyang River, so it was named Yangjiang City, or Jiangcheng for short. In February 1988, Yangjiang was removed from the county and established as a city, and Jiangcheng District was established.

Jiangcheng District governs the two towns of Buchang and Shuangjie and 8 streets including Ganglie, Baisha, Zhongzhou, Chengdong, Chengxi, Chengnan, Chengbei and Nanen, with a total area of ??666 square kilometers.
