How does Hr interview product managers effectively?
I have no product experience before, can I still be a product manager?
What skills do you need for a product manager? Need to learn programming? Want to learn from Axure?
I submitted a lot of resumes on the hook, and they were all rejected. What should I do?
Don't worry, I'll share two true stories first, both of which are cold start students.
In the first story, the protagonist is a Huawei technical salesman who graduated for two years. With the in-depth understanding of the Internet industry, he found that his passion is not to travel to various countries, nor to repeat the same sales words over and over again. He wants to participate in the creation of a product. But the problem is that he didn't have any product experience before, just sorting out their needs when dealing with customers. Moreover, due to the lack of product experience, he did not have an advantage in social recruitment, and he submitted a resume on the hook without any response. At this desperate moment, he suddenly found an opportunity. A well-known Internet company is developing an intelligent hardware product line and needs a product manager who understands the principles of hardware and technology. And his technical sales experience is very suitable for this position. After manager interview, vp interview and hr interview, it passed smoothly and got the offer within 3 days.
In fact, this experience is not accidental. There are too many such examples. High school teachers enter the online education industry to make products, and bank employees enter the internet finance industry to make products. The reason behind these stories is that the Internet is infiltrating into various traditional industries. It is no longer a simple internet game, but online education, internet finance, O2O and so on. In this process, the accumulated industry experience of talents from all walks of life will be more and more needed. There are specialties in the industry, and making use of the specialties of traditional industries and the advantages of the Internet will exert greater energy.
As a job seeker, there is a reason why I don't know how to reserve for this position. The biggest difference between product managers and other Internet posts is that there is no corresponding professional training. If you apply for a programmer, you need to learn programming. If you apply for a designer, you need to learn visual design. But if you apply for a product manager, too many people are confused: what should you learn and what skills should you master to be a product manager? There are almost no product-related majors in the school, and the computer and psychology majors with strong correlation are far from the skills needed for product work.
So, what is the most important thing to be a product manager? Most people will say that they should have strong communication skills, strong problem-solving skills and strong logical thinking skills. But in my opinion, this is a common misunderstanding in job hunting, that is, to pursue all abilities other than charts. People are not standardized commodities. Everyone must have their own advantages and disadvantages. I think the most important thing is to find your own advantages and then find an opportunity that suits you best. Why compete with your own shortcomings?
If you are in a traditional industry, a deep understanding of this industry is your advantage, and the internetization of this industry may be an opportunity for you.
If you used to be an engineer, a thorough understanding of technical principles is your advantage, and a laboratory company with an engineer culture may be your right opportunity.
If you are a freshman, your thinking and execution reflected in various activities and competitions may be your advantage. A company that is willing to train new people and has a sound training mechanism may be the right opportunity for you.
In the second story, the hero is a boy born after 90. He works as an assistant to the general manager in a traditional industry, and some connections in his work have made him plan to transform into a product manager. He has strong basic ability, strong learning ability, clear logic and orderly communication and expression. However, at first, his resume was repeatedly rejected. In his own words, he felt that he could not find a temple with a pig's head. Later, after some tutoring and counseling, his job-hunting skills have been greatly improved. He fell in love with a startup company at first sight and joined the company in one day. Recalling this experience, he said: "I really didn't care about my resume before. I always thought that as long as the interview performed well, the chances of success were great. " The fact is that if you don't have an attractive resume, you can't even show your advantages to the interviewer face to face. 」
In fact, there are too many excellent people who can't seize the best opportunity because of the lack of methods and skills for job hunting. They don't know how to show their product capabilities in their resumes, how to show their strengths and achievements in a short interview time, and how to judge which opportunity is best for them. This is the second misunderstanding of job hunting. I don't value the methods and skills of job hunting, and I don't realize the importance of self-marketing. Make a simple list and compare it:
Did you investigate the company you applied for before the interview? What is the company's product line, business model and the most important thing in the company's corporate culture? (such as engineer-driven, product-driven, sales-driven) What processes did they go through to recruit a person, and how did they make a decision?
When you are writing your resume, have you ever thought about what people who read it are most concerned about? How to make him see the most important information at first sight?
How to skillfully find job opportunities, not just resumes of Haitou?
How to show your strengths and sincerity in cover letters and job-seeking works?
How to show your advantages in the one-minute self-introduction session of the interview?
How to answer awkward questions in an interview, such as: What is your weakness?
If your answer is clear and you want to enter the business, it's not a big problem.
