The world only forms a community as a constructive species and dominant species in Wuhai area. It is an excellent material for studying paleontology, paleogeography and global change, and it is a giant panda among plants. Now it is highly valued by academic circles at home and abroad. Tetraena mongolica is a deciduous shrub, which is flammable and has high calorific value. People call it "oil firewood". Because it is located in the desert grassland and grassland desert zone with extremely fragile ecology, its natural regeneration ability is poor and its anti-interference ability is very low. This area is also an important national energy and building materials chemical base, and the vegetation is seriously damaged, resulting in the continuous reduction of the area of Tetraena mongolica. At the same time, the classification status of Tetraena mongolica is very isolated, and the research on Tetraena mongolica has been carried out long before the establishment of nature reserves, but people's understanding of it is not deep enough, and it is also the main constructive species of vegetation in this area. If the research and protection work lags behind, it will not only lead to the extinction of this rare and endangered plant, but also cause irreversible damage to the ecological environment in Wuhai area. In the rare plant breeding areas of nature reserves, there are also plants listed in the priority protection list of plant species in China Biodiversity Protection Action Plan, such as Tetraena mongolica, Jerusalem artichoke, Echinacea purpurea and Ammopiptanthus mongolicus. There are also patches of natural Populus euphratica forests on Populus euphratica Island, which have become an important part of desert landscape.
