According to the actual needs of the construction of urban sub-centers, Tongzhou District has been established as an experimental area for comprehensive reform of basic education in Beijing. The construction of experimental area includes four aspects: expanding the total amount of high-quality educational resources, improving the quality of school education and teaching, promoting the reform of talent training mode and creating regional educational characteristics.

There are 250 schools of all levels and types in Tongzhou District, including kindergarten 126, primary school 83, middle school 38, vocational high school 2 and special education school 1. In the next three years, Tongzhou District will plan to build new schools and kindergartens 133, including 69 kindergartens, 35 primary schools and 29 middle schools, and the educational carrying capacity will double.

"The educational development in the administrative office area and surrounding areas is fully connected with high-quality resources. At present, Tongzhou District is focusing on promoting the construction of two middle schools, three primary schools and six kindergartens. The middle school is undertaken by Tongzhou Campus and Tongzhou School attached to the National People's Congress, and the primary school is undertaken by Beijing Normal University Future Experimental Primary School, Huangchenggen Primary School and Yumin Primary School. Kindergartens have been identified as Beijing No.1 Kindergarten, Beijing No.5 Kindergarten and Beihai Kindergarten. Tongzhou District 3 1 Primary and secondary schools have received "one-on-one" pairing assistance from municipal famous schools.

In addition, Tongzhou District will also plan to build a special education center integrating education, rehabilitation, personnel training and medical research and development according to international first-class standards.
