Basic situation

Gaojiabao Town is located on the Tuwei River in the south-central part of Shenmu, 65 kilometers away from Shenmu City. With a total area of 794 square kilometers, this town is the largest in Shaanxi Province. Gaojiabao is connected to Hetao in the north and Hedong in the south. Since ancient times, it has been a garrison and an important commercial center at the foot of the Great Wall. Known as the "dry dock", it attaches importance to literature and martial arts, and has a good reputation in history. Together with Zhenchuan Fort, Wayao Fort and Anbian Fort, it is also known as the four famous castles in northern Shaanxi. In 20/0/4, Kloc was awarded the sixth batch of "Famous Historical and Cultural Towns in China" and is now a national 3A-level tourist attraction.

Shimao Site is located on the headland on the north side of Tuwei River in Shimao Village, 3.5 kilometers east of the ancient city of Gaojiabao Town. This is a Neolithic site. The site includes inner and outer cities and Huangchengtai, with a total area of 4.25 million square meters. It is the largest known urban site in China in the late Neolithic period (Zhixia stage of Longshan period).

Current situation of protection and development

In 2004, Gaojiabao Ancient City was listed as a county-level key cultural relics protection unit, in 2007, it was promoted to a municipal key cultural relics protection unit, and in 20 13, it was recognized as a famous cultural tourism town in the province. In the summer of 20 14, Mr. Lu Yao's masterpiece Ordinary World was filmed into a TV series. After several investigations, the crew set the original site of Xixian County in the book at Gaojiabao. The ancient city of Gaojiabao perfectly reproduces the original western county, and it has also entered the national audience's field of vision for the first time through this TV series. Coupled with the excavation of the gypsum statue site 3.5 kilometers east of the ancient city, the cultural tourism industry of Gaojiabao came into being.

Discovered on 1976, Shimao Site has successively won the honors of "Six Archaeological Discoveries in China", "Ten Archaeological Discoveries in China" and "Ten Archaeological Discoveries in the World". Together with Liangzhu in Zhejiang, Taosi in Shanxi and Erlitou site in Henan, it constitutes an important display of Chinese civilization for 5,000 years. At the same time, Shimao culture has been added to the history textbooks of primary and secondary schools. In 20 19, Shimao Site was listed in the China World Cultural Heritage Reserve List by National Cultural Heritage Administration. In 2020, the gypsum statue site was listed by the American Archaeological Society (AIA) as one of the top ten archaeological discoveries in the world in 201-2020. At present, the site has been included in the "14th Five-Year Plan" of the State and Shaanxi Province.

In 20021year, Shenmu Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government integrated the two major cultural tourism resources of "China's No.1 City" and Gaojiabao Ancient City with a history of 582 years into "Shigao Site Cultural Tourism Zone", which was managed by Gaojiabao Company of Shenmu Lv Wen Group. At present, the national 4A-level tourist scenic spot of Shimao Site has been preliminarily evaluated and accepted, Shimao Site is being declared as a world cultural heritage, a national archaeological site park is being built, and Gaojiabao Ancient Town is also being declared as a national key cultural relics protection unit. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, our city will make "Shimao Site Cultural Tourist Area" the first 5A-level tourist attraction in Yulin.

However, there are some problems at present, such as serious damage, lagging management level, insufficient development and utilization, and difficult to guarantee funds.
