What does a school for the mentally retarded do?

Schools for the mentally retarded belong to the nine-year compulsory education of the state, and they recruit children with mental retardation and physical disabilities for the whole region. Intellectual education is to provide special education for mentally retarded children. Schools for mentally retarded children undertake compulsory education, including physical rehabilitation, defect compensation and pre-job training.

Special education is to educate children with special needs with universal or specially designed courses, textbooks, teaching methods, teaching organization forms and teaching equipment, so as to achieve universal and special training goals.

Mental retardation is a permanent defect, which is neither a disease nor a psychological disease, nor can it be cured by drugs. However, people with mental retardation can develop their limited potential through training and increase their ability to live independently and normally.
