Located in the southwest of Binhu District. East, south and west are surrounded by Taihu Lake, and the north is adjacent to Changzhou City. It covers an area of 47.6 square kilometers and has a population of 29,000 (year 20 1 1). Wuxi Taihu National Tourism Resort/KLOC-0 was approved by the State Council in June, 1992. With a total planned area of 65 square kilometers, it is distributed in the 18th Bay of Taihu Lake, Mawei District and Majishan Island, and governs 13 communities with a total population of 39,000. Located in the southwest of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, the beautiful Mashan Peninsula on the shore of Taihu Lake. There are 57 peaks, 4 1 stream and 38 bays. Mashan Township, Wujin County was founded in 1949. Named after Ma Jishan (Mashan for short). 1953 is under the jurisdiction of Zhenze County. 1954 is under the jurisdiction of Wuxi county. 1958 changed to commune. 1960 Wuxi Suburb Jurisdiction. 1980 Mashan Wei and Mashan commune set aside Mashan office in Wuxi. 1984, Mashan commune was changed to Mashan town, which still belongs to Wuxi Mashan office. 1988 Mashan district (county level) was established to administer Mashan town and Meiliang street (polder).
