Brief introduction of the research and extension center of new agricultural technology of Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

The research and extension center of new agricultural technology of Guangxi Institute of Botany was formerly an introduction and cultivation research group composed of fresh graduates from four universities. It was established in 1954, and 1989 officially became a research laboratory independently. The main research direction of this discipline is to carry out the investigation, collection, preservation, introduction and domestication of wild plant resources and breeding of excellent varieties. At the same time, excellent plant variety resources at home and abroad were introduced and domesticated, and excellent varieties suitable for local development were screened out.

Since the establishment of the Center, more than 0/00 kinds of economic plants, such as fruit trees, Chinese herbal medicines, oil plants, ornamental plants, rare and endangered plants and wild vegetables, have been investigated for resources, introduced and cultivated, and excellent varieties have been selected and cultivated. Citrus orchards, oil tea gardens, chestnut orchards, olive orchards, ginkgo orchards, Kudingcha cutting nursery and camellia germplasm resources have been established. More than 90 scientific research achievements have been made, including 47 scientific and technological progress awards; Published 458 research papers and translated 64; A number of excellent varieties of economic plants such as "Ginkgo Gui 86- 1" and "Kiwi Guihai No.4" have been cultivated, which have made positive contributions to the development of Guangxi's national economy.

The research and development of ecological reconstruction technology and standardized planting technology of Chinese herbal medicines in karst areas are being carried out; Breeding of excellent varieties such as ginkgo, kiwi, peach, plum, pear, loquat and seedless wampee, research and demonstration of cultivation techniques; Research and development of 26 projects focusing on tissue culture and rapid propagation techniques such as Taxus chinensis, Gynura divaricata, Artemisia annua, Pueraria lobata, Siraitia grosvenorii, Kiwifruit and Calla lily.
