Nanchang Health School was founded in 1929, the first health vocational education in Jiangxi.

Formerly known as Jiangxi Provincial Midwifery Vocational School, it has gone through many vicissitudes and changed its name several times. In 1970, it was renamed Nanchang Health School and is affiliated to Nanchang Health and Family Planning Commission. The school is a public national key secondary vocational school, a national secondary vocational education reform and development demonstration school construction school, an advanced unit of vocational education in the province, a "civilized unit of Jiangxi Province", and an advanced unit of employment for graduates of secondary vocational schools in Jiangxi Province.
