Why should dry air be used in sulfuric acid production from sulfur?

The reasons why dry air is used in sulfuric acid production from sulfur are explained as follows:

1. The purpose of drying process is to provide dry air for sulfur burner. In the drying process, 98% sulfuric acid is used as desiccant. The air enters the blower (driven by steam) after being filtered to remove mechanical impurities, enters the bottom of the drying tower after being pressurized, and fully contacts with 98% acid sprayed on the packing from the tower from bottom to top. The moisture in the air is absorbed by concentrated sulfuric acid and dried, so that the moisture in the air is absorbed twice. First absorption: The furnace gas coming out of the third catalyst layer enters the first absorption tower (the first absorption tower) from the bottom of the tower, and fully contacts with 98% sulfuric acid added from top to bottom in the air, so that SO3 in the furnace gas reacts with H2O in the acid to generate sulfuric acid, which enters the circulating tank.
