What does fpso mean?

FPSO (floating production storage and off loading) is a floating oil storage and unloading device, which can primarily process and store crude oil and is called "offshore oil factory".

FPSO is a comprehensive large-scale offshore oil production base integrating oil-gas separation, oily sewage treatment, power generation, heat supply, storage and transportation of crude oil products, personnel residence and production command system.

Compared with other oil production platforms, FPSO has the advantages of strong wind and wave resistance, wide water depth adaptability, large oil storage/unloading capacity, portability and reusability. It is widely used in the development of deep sea, shallow sea and marginal oil fields far from the coast, and has become the mainstream production mode of offshore oil and gas field development.
