Cao Ying, whose original name was Sheng Junfeng, was born in 1923 in Cixi, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. From 1978 to 1998, Caoying systematically translated all of Leo Tolstoy's novels, including three novels, more than 60 short stories and autobiographical novels.
