Qualification Requirements

Applicants for the Special Agent position must meet the minimum requirements listed below

.

1. (Applicant) is a legal resident of the United States of America or a legal resident of the Northern Mariana Islands

2. (Applicant) is fully capable of performing law enforcement operations at the FBI Complete the task within the geographical scope

Computer Science/Information Technology: (Apply. Person) must have a computer or information technology related major, an electrical engineering degree, a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNP) certification, or a Cisco Certified Network Expert (CCIE) certification

Diversity: (Applicants. ) Must have an academic degree in any subject, and be engaged in such a profession, and have 3 years of full-time work experience, or hold an advanced degree, be engaged in a professional job, and have 2 years of full-time work experience

Key Skills

After qualifying for the entrance process, agent candidates with one or more key skills will be given priority in the recruitment process

1. Accountants who are certified as certified public accountants or. Have at least a four-year college degree with a major in accounting and three years of progressively responsible accounting work in a professional accounting firm or similar public setting, such as a state auditor or general accounting office.

2. Bachelor's degree in finance or advanced studies in finance, economics, or business, with at least two years of professional financial work experience including, but not limited to: auditor, financial analyst, business owner, fraud investigator, or white-collar crime enforcement; and/or possess the following certifications: Certified Fraud Examiner (for CFE), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

3. Computer Science/Information Technology majors are eligible to enter the Computer Science/Information Technology program; or have managed corporate networks, installed and maintained server operating systems; established and maintained an Internet service provider; maintained and Monitor the performance of a TCP/IP or other protocol network; or maintain and performance tune a server or network information service.

4. Engineering majors To qualify as engineering critical skills, candidates must have a degree in an engineering-related major. An architecture degree is also eligible.

5. Foreign language applicants may meet the critical skills in that language to qualify for the language input program (i.e., by passing the listening and reading two-part Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and demonstrating a proficient three or three A high Spoken Proficiency Test (SPT) in a key foreign language). For those applicants who qualify, in addition to language in the entry program, they can acquire language critical skills through the listening portion of the DLPT and demonstrate proficiency in a critical foreign language of "2+" or higher on the SPT.

Here is a list of language skills that are considered critical of the FBI: Arabic, Chinese, Farsi - all dialects, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Pashto, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Urdu and Vietnamese.

6. Intelligence Experience To qualify as Intelligence Critical Skills, candidates must have two years of substantial full-time work experience, in an Intelligence Community. These areas include foreign counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and active intelligence. Two years of experience may include time in training focused on intelligence. Full-time work experience as an intelligence analyst/specialist, FBI surveillance team member, or a supervisor is sufficient in these positions. Candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in international studies, international finance, or related disciplines are also eligible.

7. Legal Experience Candidates who meet the critical skills of law must be eligible under the law entry program (i.e., a law school resident with a JD degree).

8. Law Enforcement or Other Investigative Experience To qualify as a law enforcement critical skill, candidates must have at least two years of full-time investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.

9. Military Experience To qualify as a critical military skill, candidates must have two years of substantial, full-time work experience in the military.

10. Physical science expertise must meet the critical skills of science. Candidates must have a degree in a scientific field such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, forensics, mathematics, medical majors, nursing, physics, etc. wait.

11. Diverse Experience To qualify for the Diversity Critical Skills, candidates must have a bachelor's or bachelor's degree in any discipline, plus three years of full-time work experience, or an advanced degree accompanied by two years of full-time work experience.
