In recruitment interviews, is the Enneagram reliable?

Personally I don’t think it is reliable.

The Enneagram

When it comes to the Enneagram, many people should be familiar with it, and they may also speak eloquently. It has to be said that this is due to the fact that the Enneagram personality test has become popular all over the world in recent years and is mostly used in workplace assessments. However, in fact, as a personality psychology theory, the Enneagram is not currently recognized by the mainstream psychology community.

The Enneagram, literally speaking, is a personality typology, including nine types of personality. Different people are analyzed through the Enneagram personality test.

It is mainly a theory based on nine different temperaments of people, including: concentration range, activity level, regularity, distraction level, initiative, adaptability, psychological quality, response intensity, range of interest.

The nine categories of the Enneagram are:

(1) Perfect type; (2) All-loving type; (3) Achievement type; (4) Artistic type; (5) ) Reasonable type; (6) Loyal type; (7) Active type; (8) Leader type; (9) Peaceful type;

The Enneagram is currently also expanding into parent-child relationships and husband-wife relationships. But the most important application is still in the workplace. Some companies will ask candidates to participate in the Enneagram psychological test during talent recruitment, and it will also be used in corporate management. There are currently two popular tests, 36-question and 144-question versions.

The Enneagram personality theory is similar to astrology and zodiac signs, and does not meet scientific requirements. Moreover, the Enneagram scale has not been studied, so it has not been recognized by the scientific psychological community.

Human psychology and behavior are complex, affected by various factors, and are the result of all aspects. A person cannot be perfectly summarized by a few simple labels.

Especially if some people have done similar tests in advance, the results will be of no value.
