Interview experience at Maersk

An interview is a way to examine a person’s work ability and overall quality in the form of written, face-to-face or online communication (video, phone). Through the interview, you can Preliminarily determine whether the applicant can integrate into your team. It is a recruitment activity carefully planned by the organizer. Below is my summary of my interview experience at Maersk, welcome to read.

On Tuesday afternoon, I went to Maersk Line (China) Shenzhen Branch for an interview. It was my first time to participate in such a formal interview in a large company. I would like to share some experiences.

The whole process, including the written test and the first round of interviews, lasted more than 2 hours, and the written test alone lasted for 1 hour. The process of the written test is as follows:

1. Intelligence test. It is similar to those test questions for civil servants. If you complete 50 questions in 12 minutes, most people will not be able to finish it. HR also reminds us to pick up what we can do and do it quickly. But I guess I didn’t do well because I didn’t grasp the time well.

2. Personality test. For the same adjective, one page is how you describe yourself, and the other page is how others describe you. There are no tricks to talk about here, only the truth, because Maersk wants the most suitable candidate rather than the smartest.

3. Answers in English scenarios. The scenario is this: If you are new to the company and everyone is very busy and there is no time to waste teaching you this newbie, what should you do so that you can create more benefits for the company? You are asked to write your answers in English. This scenario is something I have never encountered before. I answered a few points and I probably won’t score very high.

4. Draw pictures to describe your past, present and future. Try not to use text descriptions. I painted three paintings, basically with a clear theme and what I wanted to express. But since I'm not good at painting, the effect of the painting is really not flattering, haha.

Next is the HR interview:

5. Introduce yourself in English based on the picture you drew. Originally, we all thought we were just here to take the written test, so none of us were fully prepared. But now that it’s here, let’s go all out. I feel pretty good at this stage. I told you about my past, present and why I applied for this position.

6. Understanding of the position you are applying for. Maersk was recruiting for customer service this time, so she asked us what we knew about this customer. Although none of them had prepared much, everyone said something more or less, and their emphasis was different.

7. In your past work experience, tell me which jobs you like and are good at, and which ones you need to spend more effort to complete? Regarding this question, some people refer to it as their own strengths and weaknesses. In fact, it is not the case. She wants to examine what type of work you are more suitable for. I started to describe a job I had experienced, and talked about what kind of work I was relatively comfortable with and what I felt I was not good at.

8. The group discussion required us to complete the planning of a plan within ten minutes, and then explain it to her to persuade her to invest in the plan. After several discussions among us, we came up with the plan to open a cafeteria in Dongmen that is open to the public and has unique products. In this link, she mainly examines how everyone performs in such a teamwork process. Whether the final result is feasible is not very important.

9. The last step is to confirm the time when each person can arrive at work. Big companies are different. They try to make everything as clear as possible, which is convenient for themselves and others.

Generally speaking, this process is still very formal and formal. Judging from the process of screening resumes, notifying written tests, and organizing interviews, Maersk can better screen candidates. I also learned some things to pay attention to during interviews. I think there are a few points that I need to pay attention to:

1. Introduce yourself clearly, including Chinese and English versions. You can tell it in order from your past, present, and future. Of course, this requires you to be clear about what you want.

2. Draft your answer before answering. Remember, when you appear in front of the interviewer, you must be logical, clear and fluent.

3. For some basic interview questions, such as "Why did you come to our company?", "What do you know about such-and-such profession", etc. It is best to think about the answers in advance. When you can answer these questions confidently in front of the interviewer, you will know how necessary such preparation is.

4. Answer honestly and be flexible. You can never know the questions the interviewer is going to ask before the interview. Whether you are honest or not is actually very obvious in front of the interviewer. Of course, sometimes you still need to answer wisely based on the question and the position you hold.

The results will come out within a week or two. Since it will be a long time before I can get to work, I don’t dare to have high hopes, but it is still worth the trip.

Expansion: Interview experience at Bank of China

Bank of China is indeed one of the banks with personality. Not to mention that every written notice for interview is sent out via mass mail. Every written test and interview is almost always scheduled for Tuesday. It is really shocking that banks quote a price of 4,600 before tax at the same time that banks are secretive about their benefits. So among the three banks, I decided to choose the application process of Bank of China as the object of my recall. Although from the written examination to the interview, it is a relatively relaxed and less stressful one, and perhaps this is one of the reasons why I vaguely like it. one.

A few weeks later, I received a notice. The interview scheduled for 1:30 was almost banned because of the contract signing with Pudong Development Bank. Later, I felt that the previous two written tests were not easy, so I should go and have a look. It wasn't bad, so even though it was already past 5 o'clock when I left Pufa Building, I still made a call to the Bank of China to ask if I could still meet. After receiving a positive reply, he happily walked over. If I went to this round of interviews completely casually at first, then after I pushed the door into the waiting room and found that the applicants in the room were all mm, it really strengthened my determination to go for a good interview... "It seems like it's not bad to stay." " Such an idea actually came up at the time. It was quite hopeless when I thought about it afterwards...

The only regret about the whole process was that I accidentally said that I didn't care much about banking business before and knew very little. It seems that I have been bsdated, but it doesn't matter. Since I want to treat each other with sincerity, it is better to be honest with myself and others.

I walked out of the interview room, went back to the waiting room, chatted with my comrades for a while, and slowly walked out of the Bank of China. When I walked out of the door, I felt as if I no longer had the same passion that I had when I walked through the office building. I asked a few friends and they all said they no longer plan to look for a job. They are tired... maybe I am tired too. I just hope that all my friends can find the life they like, no matter whether it is sunny or snowy outside the window. At least it will be sunny tomorrow. ;
