Have 60% of children's crawling mats detected harmful substances?

This morning, the City Consumers Association announced the comparative test results of crawling mats. Among the 35 samples tested, formamide was detected in 22 samples, exceeding the standard by more than 60%. Among them, the measured values of three kinds of spliced crawling mats exceed 1000mg/kg, which is more than five times the safety limit. In addition, volatile organic compounds were detected in 34 samples, which was risky.

In this comparative test of children's crawling mat, the detection of harmful substances includes formamide and total volatile organic compounds. The staff of the Consumers' Association randomly bought 32 brands and 35 kinds of crawling mats as ordinary consumers, with the highest price of 692 yuan/piece and the lowest price of 12.38 yuan/piece, with a price difference of more than 50 times.

At present, there is no mandatory standard for children's crawling mats in Chinese mainland, and there are no clear requirements and restrictions on the contents of formamide and volatile organic compounds in crawling mats. According to the EU toy safety directive, the content of formamide in foam toy materials should not exceed 200mg/kg. After testing, formamide was detected in 22 samples: the measured values of 9 samples exceeded 200mg/kg, and the measured values of 3 spliced crawling mats exceeded 1000mg/kg.

The highest content of formamide is two kinds of "life-specific" crawling mats produced by Nantong Mingde Plastic Co., Ltd., and the measured values are as high as 2545.2mg/kg and 1563. 1mg/kg respectively, and a "Lee Tae" crawling mat produced by Suzhou Hengruida Household Floor Mat Co., Ltd. also reaches 1073mg/kg. In addition, a 399.9-yuan crawling mat produced by Zhangzhou Fu Qun Rubber & Plastic Products Co., Ltd. is called "ALPHABET" crawling mat of Beijing Tiqi Zhiyuan Baby Products Co., Ltd., and the measured values of formamide all exceed 200mg/kg.
