The Present Situation of Huizhou Dialect

Huizhou dialect, as a local dialect in Huizhou, has historical research value and is an important evidence to trace the development of a city. Mandarin is now the mainstream in the city center, and Huizhou dialect is only spoken in places with relatively small foreign population (such as Shuikou and Hengli). This phenomenon can be common in Tianhe, Guangzhou, Longgang, Shenzhen and other places with large foreign population. Language is a tool of communication and the first civilization of mankind. The change of language is often an important symbol of the change of social structure and cultural quality in a region. The language of a place is not only the carrier of specific cultural information in a certain area, but also the epitome of immigration, customs, religion and cultural features in a specific historical process, and it is also an invisible protection network. Especially as immigrants, in order to survive, to enhance cohesion, try to live in groups and use the same language. Huizhou dialect contains the cultural individuality and characteristics of Huizhou history, such as folklore, religion, art and so on. With the changes of the times, the increase of immigrants and the adjustment of zoning, the scope of Huizhou dialect is getting narrower and narrower. In the early days of the People's Republic of China, a large number of southern cadres and troops stationed in Huizhou made great contributions to the promotion of Putonghua in Huizhou. If the local people do not pay attention to it, it will almost disappear in radio, television, newspapers, cultural programs and so on.
