About the history of Jiangsu
Jiangning and Suzhou are both south of the Yangtze River. Why should Subei be included in Jiangsu Province?
Judging from the administrative divisions of the Ming Dynasty, Anhui and Jiangsu provinces were directly under the jurisdiction of Nanjing at that time. After the Qing Dynasty entered the customs, this area was divided into Anhui and Jiangsu, but Manchu people were not Han nationality after all, and cultural factors were not carefully considered in administrative divisions.
Since ancient times, northern Jiangsu and southern Jiangsu do not belong to an administrative division. Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian, south of Huaihe River in Han Dynasty, belonged to Yangzhou, while Xuzhou was in northern Jiangsu. In the Yuan Dynasty, northern Jiangsu belonged to Jiangbei Province of Henan Province, while southern Jiangsu belonged to Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province. It is always bounded by the Yangtze River.
The merger of northern Jiangsu and southern Jiangsu should have started from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
