What's your favorite Shunji Iwai movie?

I like Shunji Iwai's love letters best.

The film tells the story of Yoko Watanabe's lover Fujii who died in a disaster in the mountains. On the third anniversary of his death, Hiroko's mother Diane took out his junior high school graduation handbook. Hiroko wrote down the address of Hiroko when she was studying in Otaru, and sent a letter to alleviate the pain of missing him. This letter was sent to a local woman named Fujii Shu, who answered it out of curiosity.

Bozi, who received the reply, was very surprised and wrote another letter, so the two began to correspond. At the suggestion of his good friend Julia, Bozi went to Otaru. Unfortunately, he didn't meet a tree, but he passed a woman who looked exactly like him in the street. By continuing the correspondence, Otaru's tree gradually recalled a boy with the same name and surname in middle school. This accidental exchange opened the first love story of the young Fujii tree.

The film won the 19 Japan Film Academy Award for Best Newcomer; Etsushi Toyokawa won the topic award of 19 Japan Film Academy Award-the most topical actor award for this film.
