Immigration policy for Hong Kong people to return to Hong Kong

According to the policy of Hong Kong, after seven years, any China citizen who becomes a permanent resident of Hong Kong can apply for a passport. After holding a HKSAR passport, you can choose to give up or keep your mainland account. Specifically, it can be divided into two situations:

1, apply for home visit permit

After seven years, if you get a Hong Kong passport, you need to apply for a Home Visit Permit from China Travel Agency to return to the Mainland. Home Visit Permit is a passport for Hong Kong and Macao residents to and from the Mainland. The new "Home Visit Permit" has two validity periods. One is issued to minors and is valid for three years. One is issued for adults and is valid for ten years. Investment immigrants need to provide a certificate of cancellation of their mainland accounts when applying for a home visit permit. As a result, they gave up their mainland hukou.

2. Don't apply for a home visit permit

To become a permanent resident of Hong Kong after 7 years, if you want to go to the Mainland from Hong Kong, but you have not applied for a Home Visit Permit, there are two situations:

(1) Apply for the Hong Kong and Macao Pass and use it from Hong Kong to the Mainland;

(2) You can go to a third country with a Hong Kong passport, and then go to the mainland from the third country. With a third country as a transit point, you can hold China and Hongkong passports at the same time.

In addition, it should be noted that if an investor holds a foreign passport but is already a Hong Kong resident, can he apply for a Home Visit Permit?

Hong Kong residents who meet one of the following conditions may apply for a Home Visit Permit in Hong Kong:

1. China Hong Kong permanent residents born in Hong Kong;

2. Mainland residents are approved to settle in Hong Kong and obtain Hong Kong resident status;

3. China residents born outside Hong Kong have established Hong Kong permanent resident status;

4. Foreign nationals or stateless persons among Hong Kong permanent residents have been allowed to join or restore China nationality.

Therefore, investors who hold foreign passports but are already Hong Kong residents cannot apply for a Home Visit Permit, and the Hong Kong and Macao Pass is only for mainlanders, so it is not applicable to such investors. Therefore, if an investor wants to enter the Mainland, he still needs to apply for an entry visa, unless his passport is visa-free in China, or meets the above Article 4, so that he can apply for a Home Visit Permit.
