How do China women apply for a green card when they marry Canadian Chinese?

According to CIC's regulations, since your husband is a Canadian citizen, both of you can apply to CIC for permanent resident status (Maple Leaf Card) as soon as possible after marriage. This kind of immigration is called family responsibility (the word responsibility refers to your husband's guarantee to you).

Depending on where you apply, the processing time will be different. If you apply in Canada, the current estimated processing time is 17 months (from the date when the complete application is accepted by CIC). If you apply outside Canada, the application cycle is divided into two steps. The first step is a preliminary examination of your husband (about 34 days), and the second step is a further detailed examination. In view of the fact that the complexity of each application and the length of time required are directly related to the actual situation of each family, CIC did not provide an estimate of the time for the second review. After you submit your application, CIC will inform you how to check your application acceptance process for your reference.
