This major trains senior technical talents with solid basic knowledge of natural science and humanities and social sciences, basic theories and knowledge of materials mechanics, structural mechanics, geotechnical mechanics, geology, building materials, civil engineering structure, engineering investigation, basic engineering, project management and supervision, and deep and extensive knowledge in the field of civil engineering.

Students in this major are required to systematically study the basic knowledge, basic theory, basic knowledge and basic skills of planning, design, research and development, construction and management of civil engineering projects, accept the basic training of planning, design, construction, management, research, test and detection of civil engineering projects, and have preliminary working ability.

Through four years' study, students will have a solid basic knowledge of natural science and humanities and social sciences, and understand the main aspects and application prospects of contemporary science and technology; Master the basic theories such as engineering mechanics, geotechnical mechanics, geology and engineering geology, engineering planning, engineering materials, engineering structure analysis and design, engineering survey and basic engineering, basic technology related to construction machinery, electrician, engineering survey, construction technology and organization management, and have the basic ability of civil engineering drawing, computer application, and the use of main tests and test instruments. China Geo University (Beijing) College of Engineering and Technology was established in 1998, which was jointly established by the former Prospecting Engineering Department of Beijing Geo University and the Engineering Geology Teaching and Research Section. In the past 50 years, he has been engaged in higher education in prospecting engineering, geological engineering and other disciplines. Among them, prospecting engineering is one of the earliest disciplines in China to be awarded doctoral and master's degrees, and it is also one of the first national key disciplines in China. Over the past decades, many graduates trained by our college have played an important role in more than ten industries, such as land and resources, petroleum, metallurgy, nonferrous metals, coal, railways, hydropower, architecture, urban construction, building materials, civil aviation, aerospace and nuclear industry, as well as related scientific research, teaching, engineering construction and national government departments, and played an irreplaceable positive role in national construction.

The Institute is in a leading position in scientific research such as rock crushing theory, computer control of drilling engineering, environmental drilling, soft rock engineering, blasting disaster control, metal surface strengthening technology, geotechnical stability, regional stability, safety economy, information engineering, etc., and has played an important role in national economic construction for many years.
