J- 1 What is the visa?

J- 1 Visa: J- 1 Visa is a non-immigrant visa, which is issued to all kinds of foreigners who come to the United States to participate in the exchange visit program approved by the State Council.

1 and J- 1 There are many kinds of visas, and the time that various J- 1 visa holders can stay in the United States is also different, ranging from 6 months to 5 years.

2. China citizens who travel to the United States with a J/KLOC-0 visa must return to China within two years after the visa expires. In other words, it will take two years after returning to China, and you cannot go abroad for personal reasons. If you have to go abroad on business, you should submit it to the state for the record and apply for exemption.

Some procedures and precautions for applying for J- 1 visa (many postdoctoral students in the United States are also J- 1 visa) are introduced in four parts as follows:

Part 1: Get the invitation, log in to webform system _, SEVIS number, and get DS-20 19.

Part II: _ Submit SEVIS I-90 1 _, fill in the DS- 160 form, and make an appointment for J- 1 visa interview.

Part III: Visa Application, Air Ticket and Accommodation

First of all, academic visits should be approved by foreign tutors, or postdoctoral students should get an offer. Then, you can start applying. Generally, there are two staff members in the other college who are responsible for the docking (mainly mail), one (Little A) is responsible for the registration in the college, and the other (Little B) is in charge of the visa center and is responsible for DS20 19. Take me for example. First, the other party will send an international visiting scholar questionnaire. You need to fill in some basic information: the name of the other tutor, the name of the visiting scholar, gender, email address, occupation and passport information (passport validity period), as well as some basic academic information, such as whether you have attended medical school or not.

Part 1: Get the invitation letter, log in to webform system _, SEVIS number, and get DS-20 19, (more than one month).

The invitation letter or admission notice is electronic and can be received by mail.

Webform is _, and Xiao A will create an account for you in the system (for example):

Name: Li, Dazhu

User name: LI 1 1 16666.

Password: ead8888

Then you need to log in, fill in the webform, scan the file and send it to Xiao A.

The following information includes descriptions of the following aspects

1) Collect supporting files and

2) Fill in the form of visa registration website.

Supporting documents

Please check the attached list, including the documents I need. In short, I need the following documents:

Signature page of the second part of the network form (signed by you _ non-copy-see below for more details).

Current resume/resume

Diplomas, transcripts and certificates with translators (if you have any certificates)

Copy of passport resume page, showing the validity period. If applicable, please provide the same documents for any dependents.

Copies of previous US immigration documents, including I-94, DS-20 19 and all other relevant documents, if applicable. Please include the same documents for all dependents (if applicable).

Will you get formal academic training credits in other schools besides Duke University? If yes, please attach a detailed explanation letter and supporting documents.

When DS20 19 is completed (June 24th) and sent out, Xiao B will send you an email with the tracking number and SEVIS number.

We are writing to you to confirm that we have issued the form DS-20 19 and forwarded it to you by FedEx. You can track the status of this package by visiting and using the following tracking number: 123456789999.

The SEVIS number of this DS-20 19 is N00 12345678, and the J- 1 program code of the university is O- 1-00888.

DS-20 19 will be received about three days after mailing (FedEx) (June 28th).

Part II: _ Submit SEVIS I-90 1 _, fill in the DS- 160 form, and make an appointment for J- 1 visa interview.
