Why is Assam in India not independent?

Assam in India is not independent for two main reasons:

1. Assam is located in the northeast corner of India, but it borders Myanmar and Bangladesh, which is a buffer zone between India and its neighbors. At the same time, Assam is the only economically developed region among several states in northeast India, accounting for more than 50% of the whole northeast region. In addition, Assam is also an important exporter of agricultural products such as tea, coffee, rubber, spices and wood in India, and its position in India cannot be ignored.

Although Assam was once an independent kingdom in history, Assam was once a province of British India during the British colonial period. During the British colonial rule, the British colonial authorities carried out a series of policy reforms, such as abolishing the power of the local indigenous royal family and implementing land reform. These reforms not only broke the original local social structure, but also made the local people rely on the British colonial authorities to some extent. After India's independence, Assam had made demands for independence, but under the strong response of the Indian government, these demands were not realized.

Generally speaking, Assam is an important region in northeast India, and its economic and political status in India can not be ignored. Although the region once had an independent history and requirements, under the strong influence of India, these requirements have never been realized.
