I am in Changsha. Where can I apply for a visa to the United States? Beijing or Guangzhou?

Brother, according to the regulations, Changsha belongs to Beijing. But if you save time, you can ask to come to Guangzhou when you make an appointment by phone. If Guangzhou can arrange an interview earlier than Beijing, he will arrange it for you in Guangzhou. Yesterday (May 4th), I just took the high-speed train from Changsha to the American Consulate General in Guangzhou to complete the interview (mine is B 1), and I want to share some experiences with you:

1. Fill in the form DS 160. I also looked up some information on how to fill it in online before, which benefited a lot. I think it's better to fill in this form as truthfully and comprehensively as possible. Although the interviewer has no time to read your form carefully this time, it's better to be cautious, just in case. In addition, I would like to remind you that when filling in the DS 160 form, you must remember to save all the contents of the form to your computer before uploading the photos at last, so that you can re-fill it in later or endorse it next time. When I first filled it out, I found that after you uploaded the photos, you couldn't save them on the computer. After filling out DS 160, if you don't have a laser printer at home, you will be prompted to send the form to the mailbox and print it in the printing room. Remind everyone that when printing, be sure to check whether all the bar codes on the right are presented. I made a mistake this time. At that time, when the printing room printed for me, there was no page set, so the printed confirmation page was not displayed on the left. When I saw that the bar code was complete, I thought it was nothing. Unexpectedly, when the consulate submitted the information, it was told that the barcode was incomplete and could not be scanned. It was necessary to wait at the window for 15 minutes, and the embassy staff re-entered my barcode before going through the following procedures. Although the bar code problem is not fatal, it will cause you to delay valuable time, please remember!

2. Visa procedures at the consulate. First of all, line up at the entrance of the consulate to get the number. There are many signs at the gate (divided into immigrants and non-immigrants), so you should read them carefully before queuing at the back of the corresponding team to avoid making a mistake and wasting time. There are two situations for non-immigrant teams. One sign says 1: 15 in the afternoon, and the other sign says 2 pm, indicating that the telephone appointment time is different. When I made an appointment at that time, the other party told me that it was 2: 40 pm. I found that there was no sign saying 2: 40 at the scene, but I should have known that I should have lined up at 2 o'clock, but I still stood in line at 1: 15 with luck, hoping to get the number plate early. As a result, when it was my turn, the staff couldn't find my name on the list, so they told me to queue up at 2 pm, so I had to go back to 2 pm and queue up last. You see, "more haste, less speed", fooling around without knowing the procedure.

Get the number plate, then enter the building, take the escalator to the top, and then line up. The first pass is to check your passport, and the second pass is a physical examination. I have to hand over all my electronic products and take off my belt, shoes and instruments. I would like to remind you that you should take as few electronic products as possible when you go to the embassy, so as not to feel a little troublesome after passing this pass.

After that, you will enter a hall and complete three procedures in turn. First submit your passport, form and visa fee receipt, then press your fingerprint and go to the window for face-to-face signing. The interview scene I imagined before was that everyone went into a room, faced the visa officer alone, and then answered many questions. However, the actual situation is quite different. Face-to-face signing is actually like saving money in a bank. Everyone just communicates with the visa officer through a glass counter, and the rest can see and hear the whole visa process of others. The general visa process takes about 2 minutes to 10 minutes, which may be different according to everyone's situation. Don't worry about those who have poor spoken English. Although every interviewer is a foreigner, they can all speak fluent Chinese. Therefore, most of the other party's inquiries are also in Chinese, so don't worry, just answer truthfully and calmly.

The whole process from queuing at the entrance of the embassy to the visa officer's site to finally announce that "you have passed" needs to be queued in turn, which takes about 2 hours. I felt weak in my legs until the end. Therefore, I remind you to strengthen physical exercise and keep in good health before coming to the visa.

Finally, you must go through the mailing formalities at the postal counter next to the visa hall. This is very simple, so I won't go into details.
