The construction of Zaodu Reservoir is one of the major water conservancy projects in the State Council 172, with a total investment of106.5 billion yuan. This project is located at about 1.2km upstream of Zaodu estuary, with a linear distance of 35km from Qijiang urban area. The construction tasks are flood control, urban water supply, irrigation and power generation, which can improve the water disaster prevention ability in the urban area and along the Qijiang River and greatly alleviate the water shortage in southern Chongqing.
