Ten years: an important event in women's history

To commemorate Women's History Month, we selected an important event from every decade of the past century. Every activity praised women's achievements in all aspects of life and promoted the development of history: 1903: Marie Curie, the first female chemist and physicist who won the Nobel Prize, is most famous for her pioneering work in the field of radioactivity. 1898, she discovered the chemical element polonium and named it after her native Poland. Together with their husband Pierre, they announced the existence of another element, radium. 1903, their work won the nobel prize in physics. Madame Curie won the second Nobel Prize with 19 1 1, becoming the only person who won prizes in two different scientific fields (physics and chemistry). Her work is crucial to the development of surgical X-rays. (bettmann/corbis)1912: The Girl Scouts of the United States established Juliette Gordon Low "All Girls Club" in Savannah, Georgia to promote social welfare by encouraging members to participate in community service and outdoor activities. Many famous alumni of Girl Scouts include lucille ball, hillary rodham clinton, nancy reagan and Gloria Stein. Today, the organization has about 3.7 million members. (bettmann/corbis)1920:1920 On August 8, 2008 18, the 19th amendment to the US Constitution was passed, which guaranteed all American women the right to vote. This is a major victory for women's rights advocates who have fought for women's voting rights for decades. (Bettman/Corbis) 1932: Amelia Earhart flew across the Atlantic alone, setting a number of aviation records and becoming the first woman to win an outstanding overflight award. A flight of 1920 10 minutes tempered her enthusiasm for flying. After completing the first solo flight across the Atlantic, earhart's next goal is to become the first woman to fly around the world. On June 1937, 1, she and Apanon took a twin-engine plane from Miami and landed in Laicheng, New Guinea 28 days later. They left Laicheng on July 2 for Howland Island, 2,556 miles away. They didn't come. The reason for their disappearance is not clear, but many people think that the plane ran out of fuel and crashed. The US Army established the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (later called WAC), and recruited about 1.5 million women as radio operators, mechanics and laboratory technicians during World War II. In 1978, the National Assembly passed a bill to abolish the Commission on the Status of Women as a means to integrate women more closely into the military structure. (Swim Ink 2, LLC/Corbis) 1955: In Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa parks refused to give up her seat to a white man on the bus. She was arrested and accused of violating the city's law of classifying passengers by race. This triggered the Montgomery bus movement, which lasted for 38 1 day until the bus isolation ended. The * * * activities in park geun-hye have played an important role in raising African-Americans' awareness of civil rights. (Corbis) 1966: the national women's organization (now) was founded by Betty Goldstein Friedan. Founded by 28 men and women in Washington, D.C., the National Women's Organization aims to "make women fully participate in the mainstream of American society" and is currently the largest and most comprehensive feminist advocacy group in the United States. (Bateman Corbis) 1973+0973: American tennis champion billie jean king defeated champion Bobby Riggs in a "battle of the sexes" on 1973. The former world number one Riggs Challenge Gold, which the organizers called "the battle of gender". He swore that a top female player could not beat him. With about 50 million people in 37 countries watching, Kim defeated Riggs in straight sets. This game made women's tennis the focus. Today, Kim continues to defend women's rights in sports. (Bettman/Corbis) 1983: Sally rides a bee for the first time. 1978, an American space woman joined NASA after applying for a job advertisement in the newspaper. 1In June, 1983, she and four other astronauts took a historic six-day flight on the space shuttle Challenger. So far, about 4 1 women in the United States have flown into orbit. (Bettman/Corbis) 1994 Congress passed the Prevention of Violence against Women Act, which is a landmark legislation aimed at improving the criminal justice and community countermeasures against domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking in the United States. It was adopted with an unprecedented budget of1600 million dollars. In 2005, Congress re-approved the bill and expanded its scope to protect child victims and immigrants. (Mark Peterson/Corbis) On June 4th, 2007, Nancy Pelosi bees was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives by 233 votes to 202 votes, becoming the highest-ranking woman in the United States. She pointed out that her election marked "a historic moment for American women". . . Today we broke the marble ceiling.
